Barbon Village
Old Kiln Cottage sits on the edge of Barbon village, within sight of The Church Mouse, village hall and well equipped children's play park ... a definite winner with our younger visitors!
Kirkby Lonsdale
If you would like to explore further afield, the traditional market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is just 4 miles south of Barbon and well worth a visit, with plenty of tempting places to eat, lots of independent shops, and relaxing walks along the River Lune, taking in Devils Bridge and Ruskin's View along the way.
Walks around Barbon

Be sure to bring your walking boots when you stay at Old Kiln Cottage!
With walks from the front door taking you to the Barbon Fells to the east, or Middleton Fell to the north, you can pack a picnic and enjoy the peaceful trails of the Lune Valley leaving your car keys behind.
That said, a short drive north to the 'book town' of Sedbergh, you will find the delights of the relatively lesser known Howgill Fells, while to the south east of Barbon lies Ingleton with walks to the waterfalls and trips into White Scar Cave.
For those with time to explore further afield, the stunning Lake District scenery awaits ... you just need to decide how adventurous you feel !
We have left some maps and walking books at the cottage to help you get started.
